HELP

I'm curious now about why people don't bother to help others?  If people keep helping each other, then our world could be safe again.  I can make no promises, but we could at least try.  We all fight for peace, but the way we fight, doesn't show it.  It just creats more chaos.  In school, I learned that our country, America, is a land of Opportunity.  Now that I think about it, we're anything but a land of Opportunity.  Yeah, we might have decent resources, short on liberty, and education, but we mostly have shown is that America is lazy, cruel, and at times, a living hell. 
It breaks my heart when I hear people shooting others because they stole something instead of just talking about it. Or not help a person with their groceries.  I understand some of the reasons people pass by are for safety reasons.  But still what is this country coming to???  Do you not remember when a girl was beat up at train or bus station and everyone watched including the police.  Nobody helped her.  Why, I ask?  Maybe because the people who were there were scared to get involved and to do the right thing.  But it comes down to morals as well. Some people probablyt thought, it's none of my business, safety, I do not want to get involved, they're probably fighting over nothing... and so on...excuses, excuses...  Wake up!!!  What if that was you, the girl standing alone and getting punched and kicked at and no one help you.  What would you feel? 
What do you want to be remembered for?  Just standing on the sidelines, and watch the world play your game, or are you going to step in and take your spot back, and change the game forever???  The choice is up to you, but I pray to God that people start making their choices now and turn our world into something better.  Because right now, we are going no where.  We might have hit the area in technology, but so what. Technology can't save a planet, it can help, but not change it.  People use technology, and I hope people use it for the right reasons. 
There are good people, but that's not good enough.  If people learn to pass goodness and the hope of peace, it can make a difference.  People have hard time firguring out how to pass goodness around.  I say use your talents, help others when you can, take the time to get to know your neighbors, and so on.  Start by doing small actions, becasue they turn into big actions.  Doing something small is like a drop in the middle of a lake.  One drop and it's starts the ripples throughout the lake.
Who wants to see our country and our planet turn into nothing but Hell??  I hope no one does.  Obviously no one is perfect, but helping others is one of the major effects that can turn our world around.  I might be coming off strong and angry, because I am, and what I see and hear, it's true.  Look around you.  What do you see?  Poverty, shootings, fights, and so on.  Does it not make you want to do something about it?
